An echoing box of machinery with a ghost!

I was trying out an old theatre technique here called Pepper’s Ghost which used a hidden screen to create a semi-transparent ghostly version of your face captured with a webcam.

I also (initially by accident) created an echoe effect on anything you said into the box making it even ghostlier(?).

It proved incredibly hard to film or photograph so you’ll have to take my word for it that is worked really well!

In daylight during set up

I was pleased with the gold glow at night.

In operation, but very hard to get a good pic!

It’s a video, but not a great one!

Things to note:

• Kids absolutely loved the echo effect, way more than the ghostly image.
• It would have been better if onlookers could see what was going on. There was a long queue at times and nobody knew what they were queuing for!
• I’d love to try Pepper’s Ghost on a whole person!
