Jennie Dennett is a reporter with BBC Radio Cumbria and a passionate crafter & festival organiser based in Ulverston, South Lakeland’s Festival Town.
For many years she ran Up for Arts Cumbria, a partnership between BBC local radio and the charity Voluntary Arts.
As a volunteer, Jennie is an enthusiastic participant in Ulverston’s festival scene alongside Chris Dennett, enabling people to get creative in company. She organises Ulverston’s Candlelit Walk which sees 1,000 people take a Halloween wander past community-made light installations. She’s also part of the team behind the Ulverston Lantern Festival.
Of all her shenanigans, Jennie is most proud of helping Ulverston into The Guinness Book of World Records. Together with pie-sisters Rachael Weaver & Ceri Hutton, Jennie organised the World's Largest Ever Shaving Cream Pie Fight with 1,186 people as part of Another Fine Fest 2016. Splat-tastic.
